What could be more reminiscent of childhood than fishing by the canal and enjoying some bonding time with Dad/ Grandad.
They sit in peace and harmony on the quayside fishing, as a river boat is about to move out and, in the distance, a large factory with twin chimneys sits still.
The factory could be mistaken for London's Battersea Power Station, but more likely Leigh Lambert has painted a different and real place in Northern England.
It is a cloudy yet peaceful day with fluffy clouds, and as usual it is our main protagonists, the father and child whom the ones Leigh has painted in colour, a warm glow surrounded by the grey of industry - both in traditional flat caps!
Another retrospective limited edition by Leigh, featuring a man and boy (a dad or a grandfather perhaps?) fishing by the canal, with yummy pack lunch to the side!
The two large Chimney pillars appear to the left, as a Canal Boat appears to be leaving its moorings.
I love the old rustic feel of the image with Leigh’s trademark lush greys but notice just the man and boy are in colour, as is their lunch!
The retro Tank Top the boy wears with the yellow background, reminds me of the type my own grandad wore, when I was a boy, feel good images I have not thought about in a long time, thank you Leigh.
This is the very last copy from this edition of 95 and as usual the canvas editions provide very popular with Leigh's many collectors!
