Set against an industrial backdrop and a cool yellow and darkening grey sky, which even reflects on the river, only the children, the sky and the plane itself carry any colour –can you make out the RAF symbols on the plane?

There is something very Lowry-esque about this wonderful 'Fly By' with its industrial backdrop and small figures, and a nod back to the brave men and women who fought to defend Britain in two World Wars.
