One from the archives here, 'It Takes Two To Tango' is a play on the famous expression but also a literal description of the much loved Latin dance.
Richard Blunt’s male character (in white shirt, braces and hat) dons the guitar and plays a tune for this passionate pair who indulge in their first love, the Tango!
I the interplay between light and dark within the artwork and the changing skin tones. I was instantly drawn to the woman's posture & dress; a beautiful red outfit & somehow Richard paints every crease and texture of the material perfect!
Did you know? the phrase 'It Takes Two To Tango' was popularised by a song of the same title recorded by Pearly Bailey in 1952. She was an African-American female singer, actor, comedian & Vaudeville star. A less well-known version was also released by Louis Armstrong that same year.
