Born in 1943 in the Champagne region of Northeastern France, Jean Claude Tron began painting at the age of thirteen. At sixteen he began regular work, but his desire to paint was so strong it filled his spare time, and he continued studying painting at evening classes into adulthood.
Despite a steady flow of paid art commissions and exhibitions at several prestigious galleries, it was only in 1990 that Tron became a full-time artist and devoted all his energies to the craft.
Since then, he has seen his reputation grow steadily throughout Europe, the UK and the United States, where there is a constant demand for his art and his originals command a premium price.
Unsurprising, southern France & Provence in particular, remain a primary source of inspiration for Jean Claude.
His extravagant colour palette reveals the influence of French Expressionism on the artist, and we often see Tron paint with bright yellows, deep blues, rich reds, strong shades of violets and touches of light greens!
His bright and upbeat paintings are characterized by the simplicity of the way he represents the natural world and the rural landscape, often painting blocks of colours for the fields that reflect lightness and energy.
In his own words:
‘I don’t paint landscapes that represent a particular place or areas that I have visited, instead I prefer to capture a different world, a world that radiates warmth and happiness, which leaves space to dream.’
