In addition to the wonderful Giclee, Hyde also strips back this image and allows for the simplicity in colour using only black, allowing the white backdrop to seep through the characters.

This style and way of creating is my particular favourite when it comes to Hyde's work.

The appreciation of not letting colour over ride the themes or image is something in which Hyde considers anyway, so stripped back even more this is emphasised more so.

The nature of the piece can read across both child and adult enabling this to be successful and relatable across all ages.

The original 'Bear Hugs' is a very famous and collectable Doug Hyde artwork and spawned the follow up pieces: a sculpture, a bronze and a black and white study, all now sold out limited editions.

It seems fitting that the title of the piece returns for a follow up in Doug's 10th Anniversary: 'Love Counts' collection 'Bear Hug II' but this time in a reimagined format - with the characters hugging all his toys, including a zebra & three teddy bears.

This piece has a very rich red background that is pleasing to the eye and the image is one of love, joy & hope, as the character holds his cuddly toys that have been so dear to him over the years.

Bear Hug II  will appeal to children and the innocence child in all of us and that is the special quality of Doug's paintings.
