This New release, which we think will be another splendid Orangutan called 'Alfred,' will be coming out early September 2019 and the anticipation for Paul's latest release is building.
Paul James has established himself as one of the UK's top wildlife artists and for great apes, arguably he leaves his competition hanging around!
This is a beautiful addition to the artist's highly collected Paul James - 'Urban Graffiti' range of limited editions, with a wild animal in front of wall of graffiti!
The sneak peek initially shown is of an Orangutan about to unveil the forthcoming release lol...you'll have to wait! Update - the image has now been revealed and we have updated our image online.
This time we have a mighty male orangutan, in a humorous scene, mimicking a human on a ‘messy’ night out on the town. A little too much to drink and he has stumbled into the gutter by the roadside, as he toys with the 'grate' of a drain, painted over with double yellow lines!
I love how Paul anthropomorphizes his great apes. I wonder, did you imbue human emotions onto the ape? I know I did. I imagine he had a great night out and was pondering how much he loved his wife and children, as he balances himself between the drunk and 'becoming sober' great divide we have all experienced.
Paul's reminder once again how closely connected we are to our primate cousins and that our relationship remains symbiotic.
I've heard this fella being described as a 'handsome hulk!' in this particular artwork. While this is a large & powerful male orangutan, Paul has also painted him with a certain pathos and vulnerability.
Placed in an urban environment, a street whose backdrop is one of Paul's famous Graffiti strewn walls, this great animal contemplates life and what the future hold for his real 'home.'
Having said that, this can also be taken as a light-hearted image of an ape feeling the effects of a few beverages and a great night out with his friends!
