Born in 1969 with an upbringing near Cannock Chase, Martin Robson has been surrounded by the natural beauty of wildlife that now inspires his art since youth, spending hours drawing and painting as a young child with plenty of inspiration around him.
After achieving a BA (Hons) Degree in graphic design from Wolverhampton University, Martin began his art career in 1993 as a Graphic artist in the gaming machine industry, creating themed artwork for games including animations, characters and backdrops, going on to become a Creative Director in 2013.
After 25 years in the sector, 2018 gave Martin an opportunity to leave the gaming industry behind and return to his passion for fine art, working as a full-time self-employed artist ever since. An established pet portrait painter, and his own childhood pet ownership cemented his love of animals and a desire to capture animals in their purest form and expose their spirit, bringing them to life in his incredibly realistic paintings.
Painting on acrylic canvas and working from photographs of the subject, Martin’s ambition is to use dynamic realism to create beautifully realistic work, emphasizing strong use of light and shadow to make his pieces stand out from the crowd.
