The artist can be described as a ‘mixed media’ one, & his cutting edge art & design are gaining fame both in the UK and international art world. His experimental figurative designs and perennial use of gold relief, reminds me of fellow artist ‘Chuck,’ who is also signed to the same UK publishing house.
His debut limited edition series is titled: 'The Trunk Of Funk - Urban Geisha Paper Series.'
‘Trunk Of Father’ is the handle for the artist whose real name is Gareth Tristan Evans, a full time artist living in Macclesfield, North Of England; a town surrounded by a rich English history, such as Adlington Hall (15th century country house) & Nether Alderley Mill (16th century water mill).
Surprisingly though, Trunk was born in Singapore, which has definitely influenced his artistic style. and he grew up as a child in a Welsh valley.
He is most famous for two rather different collections of artworks.
His first is the ‘My Fathers Books’ - range. The artist paints famous book covers onto various butterfly shapes, which are then placed into pleasing symmetry and framed; immediately drawing you in when seen on the wall….
Trunk has further developed this theme & even takes requests! recently completed Rock & Roll album covers and James Bond movie posters onto his butterflies!
Equally fascinating is his second series, the ‘Urban Geisha.’ Artwork with modern figurative versions of Geisha, using a plethora of colours and even painting on wooden panels and snow boards! You may notice Trunk likes to use gold leaf on his pictures.
Drawing upon his interests in other cultures, materials and modern design, he skilfully, blends Easten mythology, iconography and a larger dash of street art!
The artist can be found on Instagram and his butterfly style has its own account ‘My Father’s Books’
