We welcome newly nationally signed artist known simply as 'Roffway' to our portfolio, with originals and his first two limited editions on canvas: ‘A New Day’ & ‘Together Forever,' for June 2023.
Roffway’s art benefits from his training in the complementary skills of photography & painting, as well as his love for the beautiful countryside of Buckinghamshire, England, which literally shine through in his paintings!
He manages to skilfully merge the disciplines of 'soft focus' realism (of course influenced by his photography skills) with traditional oil painting, and I feel these place him in a rather unique & attractive position on gallery wall space.
Like many artists based in rural locations, Suffolk based Steven Binks comes to mind, Roffway will firstly travel around to find his ideal, pauses & waits for ideal light conditions before and then the camera comes out! It is back in the studio that these digitally taken images are laid out and form the basis of next piece de résistance!
For those following us and the UK Gallery art scene, immediate comparisons will be drawn to landscape artist John Waterhouse, painting the rural landscape with similar muted colours. On closer inspection Roffway has more depth, detail and sense of realism than John's timeless imagery.
Roffway works is emotional, reflective and I am sure for many nostalgic, reminding you of the simple pleasures of going for a walk and the healing power of nature. His artwork carries a depth and character that puts him in a unique small clique of artists.
