Canadian born artist Remi LaBarre is famous for his years published in the UK art market, predominantly from the sales of six bestselling limited edition prints: two published in 2013: 'Easy Living' & 'Piano Man' & four published in 2011: 'All That Jazz,' 'Blues In The Night,' 'Midnight Hour' & 'Round Midnight.'
During the same era, he successfully sold scores of originals to many collectors who fell in love with his brilliant portraiture, as well as capturing the imagination of those that love the musical tie in - many of his paintings feature the male musicians playing instruments.
Born in 1977 in Thetford Mines (Quebec, Canada) LaBarre is actually a self-taught artist, spending much of his childhood exercising his passion and the promise he had for sketching.
He developed his skills drawing on paper and paperboard, but it wasn’t until 1994 that a friend suggested he try to use paints and a brush, and Remi was enthused & enthralled by the experience & use of colours and his passion was fully ignited.
Remi is greatly influenced by artists including his UK published contemporaries Jack Vettriano & Fabian Perez, as well as US realist artist Richard Schmid (1934-2021) & Edwardian portrait painter John Singer Sargent (1856-1925).
His works focuses upon light within intimate environments, with his most famous UK distributed paintings featuring musicians in the midst of their instrumental play.
LaBarre's artistic satisfaction comes while painting & creating and likes to listen to the music of Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan when in his studio.
Now internationally recognized, LaBarre has featured in both solo and group exhibitions and has been the recipient of several awards and has since received great press coverage. His work also features in both public and private collections in the UK, Europe & North America.
