Peter Hildick was born in Twickenham, Middlesex just after the end of the Second World War. Ever since his childhood days, Peter was completely fascinated by drawing and the animal world. This particular love for wildlife was encouraged by a family move to Bath in Somerset when Peter was eight, as it allowed him to discover wildlife on the outskirts of the city.
The very idea of a career as an artist was put on hold for many years, as during the 1960's such a career was considered risky. Instead, Peter Hildick joined the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy aged nineteen, and progressed through the ranks for the next twenty-two years. However, during these years, his love of drawing wasn't totally lost, as he often sold the odd drawing in exchange for a pint or two.
Hildick now works as a part of the defence industry whilst continuing to draw in his spare time. After being introduced to The Framing Centre in 1996, some of his works were immediately sent to Washington Green; the result being his first six images published by 1997.
Peter Hildick gathers his wildlife inspiration from various sources, such as photographs, video, and live subjects when possible, of which most are spottings at his local wildlife park. However, trips to Africa aren't a simple possibility for Hildick due to his full time employment within the defence industry.
Hildick has exhibited his wildlife works in the Halcyon Gallery, and has gathered quite a following of fans that appreciate his natural and gifted ability to draw.
