March 2018 saw the release of Paul's first Superhero themed limited edition releases, with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Heath Ledger as the irrepressible Joker.
Born in Birmingham, England in 1978, Normansell's depiction of iconic legends of our time has seen the growing success of the artist and his depiction of popular culture is timeless, whilst creating his own contemporary take on musicians, fashion icons and movie stars.
The process of his work involved circular motions seen through his recognizable dots. Each circle is painted in high gloss enamel onto a sheet of aluminum. This gives the contemporary flawless affect and makes his images seem like they are straight from the pages of a sleekly polished magazine.
Power, control, patience and attention to detail are all assets in which creates the greatness of the artists vision. The dots are painted individually and vary in their size, shape and colour, there is no set rule for Normansell when it comes to creating these particular notions. The aluminum has to be placed horizontally in order for the paint to dry accurately without bleeding or dripping and therefore this requires further care and consideration. Normansell now requires weekly visits to back specialists due to the angle he paints but still proceeds to create purely because the need to paint drives his artistic visionary and so does not let this physical attribute hold him back.
His work is proving ever popular and in 2008 Normansell was approached by Brandon Flowers of US rock band, The Killers to create their art work for the new album 'Day & Age'. The art was awarded best album cover of the year by Rolling Stones Magazine.
Now one of the most recognizable contemporary artists, Normansell continues to exhibit and has exhibited overseas in Japan, Australia and the United States.
