This month sees a trio of limited editions in the Neil Dawson May 2020 - Collection from your favourite cityscape artist & includes canvas editions: 'Chrysler,' 'Dark Days' and 'Mean Streets.' - May 2020
The trio displays the artist's talent at incorporating a pleasing darker colour palette, with the use of greys and monochrome colours, this works fantastically well with his depiction of grey rain soaked roads and high-rise buildings within the vista.
The start of the year is celebrated with Neil's first (on general release) New limited editions in some years and a fantastic return to form for the artist. The series is called 'A Time To Reflect.' with three scenes of London: 'City Streets' 'Piccadilly Night Adventure' 'London Dusk Reflections' and one of New York: 'New York City Motion' & the hustle and bustle of taxi cabs. - 15th January 2020
Neil remains very busy with his originals and painting commissions and his schedule is always full; not many of us know that he is also an accomplished figurative artist & many of his commissions are portraits. Do contact us should you want your own exciting, Neil Dawson commission booked!
Spring 2016 represented his last Collection of limited editions from Washington Green publishers and fittingly featured 'front on views' of London Black Cabs and Red Routemaster Buses in the rain, with the dazzling prints: 'Afternoon Shower,' 'Nighttime Rain' and 'Regent Street Rain.'
Neil Dawson has been a published artist for over 10 years in the UK, with sell out limited edition prints on the medium of 'paper' and on ‘canvas board.’ His highly collected original art are the prize possessions of many homes in the UK and Worldwide.
I think you will agree, he is known best for his iconic imagery of the cities: London, New York and Venice (in that order!) & those instantly recognisable paintings of: London Black Cabs, Red Buses and New York Yellow Taxies.
Dawson’s talent became evident during his schooling at Bancroft’s School in Essex and he decided to pursue it as a young man. Initially studying at Central Saint Martins (CSM) in London, Neil found it got in the way of his artistic flow, so he started a different career path studying economics and finance. After some years working in the ‘City’ of London he left banking and returned to art, still in his twenties & what he felt was his true calling.
Extensive travelling was the spark that returned him to his easel and re-enthused his love for the paint brush, including extensive photography and observation of different peoples & cultures. Eventually he established a studio at his home in Epping, in leafy Essex.
Inspiration can come at any time for Neil and he will often draw onto a notepad for later reflection. He is driven by the fact he is constantly learning something new whether that be a new: colour pallete, means of mark making an artwork or creating a paint texture. He feels every very sketch allows him to develop and element that will end up in his next painting.
Interestingly Neil works initially from photos and can be working on up to a dozen pieces at a time, gradually working on the picture as a whole and making use of the brush and his fingertips.
