The artist was born in Sheffield and from very early on knew that art was the line in which he wished to set out as his professional career. His father taught art and growing up his house was filled with numerous paintings and prints. His uncle also possessed an artistic talent and it was with some of his original works placed on their wall that Wilson would stare and admire them for many hours.
In his early teens, at the age of just fourteen, Wilson entered and won a painting competition organized by the Yorkshire post and RAF, and then went onto win two other awards as well as five different paintings chosen for the Finningley air show exhibition.
Wilson went onto completing a foundation course at Rotherham and then onto studying a degree in Fine Art painting at The College of Art in Hull. Hull was where Wilson stayed over a time span of nine years after life as a student and set up a studio to which he was able to work alongside other such artists. The other artists along with Wilson exhibited together as a group, exchanged shows across the world with numerous artists from the US, Holland and Japan.
After meeting his wife ten years ago, the pair decided to move back to Sheffield and Wilson regularly took part in exhibitions up north to which he still does, acclaiming several awards over the past years.
Like most artists, Wilson always carries a sketch book and pencil and can be inspired to create at any given moment whether it's his surrounding or a particular object. Wilson also keeps with him a digital camera at all times so that he is able to capture the perfect shot whenever he sees something which will be inspirational to his future workings.
Artists of inspiration are Hockney, Hodgkin, Turner, Van Gogh, Hopper, Warhol.
