Finally the fantastic new releases are here, four amazing floral ❤️ box canvases: 'Sweet As Honey,' 'Dream In Colour,' 'Twilight Dance,' & 'Taking Flight' and what a breathtaking debut for Kay into the UK limited edition market - brilliantly named the 'Kay Davenport Lyrical Floral Fantasies - Collection.'
Some of the most gorgeous & exquisite of colours I have seen in quite some time within floral artistry, very much in the same genre as fellow artist Danielle O'Connor Akiyama. Davenport's imagery is more defined, with realistic depictions of flowers set against alluring background colours; the four different backgrounds have an ethereal colour palette blend, very warm and emotive with a strong sense of feeling in each composition for your delight - January 27th 2021
In just over two weeks Kays a quintet of first limited edition floral artwork will be released, and I am very excited indeed.
These will be two pairs of matching sister pieces, the first two titles being 18 x 18 inches (image size) lush images, and the second two 46 x 18 (image size) gorgeous vistas.
Kay has been a full time artist for over two decades, and over that time has mastered the genre of imaginative floral art.
She believes ‘herself’ is reflected in the artwork and originals she paints and would happily tell you she has a cheery and dreamy demeanour.
The artist uses a blend of oils, acrylics and other embellishment to make her eye catching originals. The foregrounds are painted and blended with colour, using oils, and this is set to a background created from acrylics & embellishments will usually be silver or perhaps gold leaf, for a luxurious effect
Her Renaissance moment came when she was viewing an exhibition by the late David Shepherd (1931-2017), and a painting containing frost covered brambles would be the lighting moment. She was completely immersed in how David had created the frost using purples, blues and other paints as part of this beautiful painting. From this moment on, she desired only to become a full time artist.
Having lived in Cyprus for many years, she was able to gather a mental portfolio of flora and fauna and various light conditions but eventually her desire to return the British countryside saw her move back, and she now resides in Cheshire, England. The area contains many natural beauty spots to inspire Kay, including the world famous Peak District.
