Overtime John Mould has been a widely published limited edition and original artist, enjoying association with two of the UK’s biggest art publishers: Solomon & Whitehead (now defunct) and Washington Green; this is indicative of his excellent reputation in the art industry.
He is best known for his animal portraiture, but he is also an excellent figurative & abstract figurative painter and has painted many best selling series of 'Big Cats' over the years.
John was born in 1958 and grew up in a small village in Staffordshire, West Midlands. As a child he was both fascinated & passionate about animal welfare, and he would care for sick animals, nursing many small birds back to health!
It was this close contact with the animal kingdom that gave rise to John’s drive to paint and draw wildlife and so, while still at school, he began to paint people’s animals and pets.
His reputation grew and at the tender age of just 19 years old, John was asked to create imagery for Wedgwood and Coalport China, as well Waterford Crystal.
What is more surprising about John, is that he is (at least initially) a self-taught artist and his talent is clearly God given.
