John Brian Evanson (circa 1932-2012), also referred to as just 'Brian' or 'John' 'Evanson' in the trade, was an English original oil painter and equestrian specialist who became renowned for his limited edition prints & paintings of horse racing.
As well as painting famous races, horses and jockeys, he also created hunting, farming scenes & canine imagery and published many signed & numbered (and indeed unnumbered) limited edition prints over the years.
John lived in the small village of Preston on the Weald Moors, Shropshire & passed away in Telford in 2012 aged 80 years old. He leaves behind an amazing portfolio of work and an art legacy that may never be surpassed in the UK.
Often you will see his original oil paintings in auctions, in traditional ornate golden swept frames (typical for the 1980s and early 1990s period for UK high street galleries) that retain a magical, timeless quality.
(John's surname is sometimes misremembered as 'Everson')
