Coming from a large family, Jacquie Boyd had two ambitions; become a rock and roll star, or an artist, choosing the latter and studying Graphic Design at Art College because she felt her artistry skills were superior to her guitar playing, and couldn’t see herself on any other journey.
Going on to study illustration at Lincoln, and becoming a ‘visualiser’ in the 80s advertising industry taught her time is money, and how to do what she did quickly, loving the pace but not the lack of closure to the pieces she was producing.
After some freelance work and later teaching at higher education level, Jacquie only began painting her own work after a trip to London and finding inspiration in Notting Hill galleries.
Her love of pop art, music and comic book art come through in her work, using it to comment on her feeling of the state of the world we live in and taking gentle digs at modern culture.
