Now gaining an increasing share of the canine art market, George W. Pickering studied Natural History of Science and Illustration at Blackpool College, during which time he painted the prize winning entry in a national Readers Digest art competition and was commended by Sir David Attenborough.
George has worked as a teacher, as well as an independent illustrator before he went on to exhibit his artwork in London, Birmingham and Newcastle venues.
In 1999, George won the Matthew Brown Trophy, awarded annually by the Accrington Howarth Gallery, taking both first and third prizes in a field of 600 artists. (Previous winners include artist Steven Townsend).
Following the success of 'Reflections of Bygone Days,' an evocative study of a barn owl, George entered the dog art market with the limited edition print: 'In From The Cold', whose success will undoubtedly be emulated by his current beautiful artworks!
