Frederick J Haycock was born in Warwickshire in 1948, where he still resides today.
He studied at both the ‘Coventry College of Art Design’ and the ‘Nuneaton School of Art,’ after which he worked for 10 years as an illustrator while painting in his spare time.
Due to the increasing popularity of his paintings & people’s determination to own one, he turned professional in 1982 to meet demand!
Local exhibitions of his work had resulted in numerous commissions and his originals have been sold to collections in the UK, Europe, USA and Japan.
His limited editions where first published by Solomon and Whitehead in 1993 - focusing purely on canine art - all of which became rapid ‘Sell Outs.' Later, his prints came under the stewardship of Sally Mitchell Fine Art publishers in 2007 and Fred would branch out into equine and hunting scenes.
One of Fred's earliest limited editions from Solomon and Whitehead was simply called (I believe) 'Irish Setters' and is a highly sort after print in the Dog Art world and is well known by members of the UK Irish Setter clubs. So well loved was this edition, the artist released 'Teamwork' as a follow up print some years later, to great applaud!
Frederick has placed well in several painting competitions and in 2010 he won the ‘Best Sporting Painting’ for a second time in the Society Of Equestrian Artist’s exhibition.
As of 2022, looking at his original painting’s performance at auction, the highest achieved was $3883 or £3375.00 for an original oil painting called: ‘Huntsman & Hounds,’ sold in 2021.
The artist is also listed on the internet simply as ‘Frederick Haycock.'
