Born into a family of European artists, Benson Landes left school at age 14 to study fashion and design. His father worked in the garment factory, he learned pattern of cutting and gained a better understanding of the world of fashion. The clothing design was the natural progression for Benson, who eventually set up his own company in 1956 sewing.
After 25 years of successful design and supply of high fashion to some of the most famous couture houses of the day, Benson decided to withdraw his passion foremost, sculpture and modeling. Immediately designed a collection of eight sports trophies bronze, which was broken by Garrards's Crown Jeweler, and to this prestigious client in its portfolio, Benson was able to run for a large number of people and works of art houses.
Mainly in the working committees for the next 15 years, joined the Halcyon Benson Gallery in 1996 and its exquisitely elegant bronzes have been exhibited throughout the country, with collectors around the world. Benson attributes of elegance and movement characteristic of the classical figure sculptures of his career as a couturier, he has a deep understanding of the feminine form.
Commenting on his work, Benson said, "Ivan is my passion, my meditation. I have reached a stage in my life where beauty of the most important things to me than anything else, my world has to be perfect, romantic and Quiet filled with elegance. I feel lucky to have been given a natural talent and, if self-taught, I have had the confidence to express my individuality. I have immense pleasure in my work, but my real satisfaction comes from knowing that he has played other Persons."
