May 2019 sees her most recent releases for the UK market, hand embellished limited editions: ‘Woven Dreams I’ and ‘Woven Dreams II' - stunning imagery of women in blue and purple coloured dresses.
Russian born Canadian artist Anna Razumovskaya, is one of the most popular impressionist artists in the world and is known for her thought provoking images of sophisticated women.
Having lived in the old Soviet block country under much austerity, she gained inspiration from her mother, who immersed herself in textiles and fashion. Studying first at University of Russia, she continued her studies in Europe up until 1995 and eventually established her home in Canada.
She has a great deal of admiration for the masters including Rembrandt Harmenszoon (1606-1669) & Peter Paul Rubens (1577 - 1640) to name just two and she aims to mimic renaissance portrait art.
Razumovskaya works with various models at the beginning of her creative process, which also involves using a wide range of media such as: acrylics, oil, watercolour, pencil, charcoal and occasionally fabric; as well, her paintings are done on a variety of surfaces including: stretched silk, canvas, paper and wood.
These various materials are used to affect the texture and appearance of her artwork, which displays extraordinary detail and rich colours. Anna’s finished paintings have been known to elicit surprise and awe among viewers, who are held spellbound by Razumovskaya’s ability to create and capture the appearance of fabric on the human body.
