Born in 1964, Brisbane began her path to becoming one of the UK\'s most successful glass artists, particularly in sand cast, after graduating at the Central School of Art and Design in London. It was here that she obtained a 1st Class Honours Degree studying what was to become her professional career in 3D glass Design.
The artist made her way across the Atlantic and was awarded a scholarship to the Tyler School of Art, based in Philadelphia and then a second in Boston to the Massachusetts College of Art.
Her unique ability to create her casting in only a single stage has certainly set her work apart from other such contemporaries and as she intervenes with the process of her molten glass by hand manipulating her material she is able to suede new and exciting shapes to derive from her glass works thus making her creations of huge success to date.
Brisbane has successfully exhibited throughout Europe and the US and her works are held in collections which has seen Brisbane win several awards, one of which was from the Lord Mayor of London.
The artist actually produces raw material which are used to colour the glass herself and this is where a fantastic combination of artistry and chemistry go side by side within the processes of her works. The artist is inspired to work this way as each glass appears to come out uniquely different and cannot be repeated exactly and it is with this unpredictable nature of her medium that the artist constantly seeks to aspire to create new works of brilliance.
