Scott Tetlow is a master calligrapher and ink artist with an incredible talent for figurative imagery. He often overlays his images with varying degrees of coloured ink, be it in the eyes, the clothes, or a pair of headphones on a chimpanzee!
Sketching a plethora of famous people for his first limited editions & originals released in 2021: such a Twiggy, Marilyn or Amy Winehouse, his eye-catching art immediately drew customers into galleries and sales began to rocket. He has since broadened his published art with more figurative & famous people, tongue-in-cheek slogan imbued chimpanzees and a more recent Superhero series.
Ultimately a modern figurative artist, Scott is now one of the top selling limited edition artists within the UK & his originals are also in high demand. **Contact us if you want to book your own commissioned piece**
His art is of course visually fascinating, but Scott has had an equally interesting backstory.
Hailing from Rochdale in Northwest England, Scott always loved to create art even as a child. In the last 1980s (as a teen) he ran with some Punk Metal bands, and he would sketch punks, create album designs and he began to assemble quite a portfolio. Brave enough to follow his true passion, he used this art to gain entrance to the Cheltenham College of Higher Education (now the University of Gloucestershire) & was one of the first wave of students to be awarded a Fine Art Degree at the college circa 1992.
Scott enjoyed over a decade as a semi-professional artist, designer and teacher but in the early 2000s his studio was destroyed by fire, and nothing was recoverable! As you can imagine this devastated him, leaving him without a studio nor the will to paint, so in his early 30s he returned fulltime to teaching, feeling he had closed the door to his art career forever?!
However, in the 2010s the artist & his family relocated to the picturesque town of Verona, Italy. Living in such an ideal place & by chance renting a flat above a gallery, he was inspired to create again, sketching the historic buildings for hours on end!
Artistically reinvigorated and re-energised, he moved back to the UK and set up a new studio at home. Selling his art locally and to a few galleries, he built up quite a following, until signing with Buckingham Fine Art publishers in April 2021. Finally realising his dream to become a full time artist, Scott Tetlow now enjoys his art being distributed right across the United Kingdom & beyond and has had a number of sell out one-man shows and appearances.
