The artist releases two long awaited new limited editions on canvas board, for Autumn 2019.
Keith Proctor was originally discovered and published by Washington Green fine art publishers in February 2010, with a debut Collection of seven limited edition prints and the public’s response was spectacular and a ‘sell out’ quickly ensued.
At the same time demand for his 'cost effective' originals drawings went through the roof and since that time his original paintings, drawings and limited edition prints have been sold in galleries the length and breath of the UK and beyond.
His painting and prints initially featured his son Jack and his typical outfit would be grey shorts, white vest and dark cap and although his son would be much older now, the young 'Jack' continues to be a much loved character in Keith’s art. Not surprising is first series was called the 'Jack The Lad Collection.'
The artist is a skilful modern impressionist and you would be forgiven for being lost, starring in amazement at the soft brush strokes that makeup the backgrounds of the canvas. The characters themselves, mostly children, teddy bears and their dogs! Are brought to life with heart warming narrative images and the artist’s skilful blend of paint & whimsy.
He has almost mastery levels of painting light and its reflection within artwork & he captures flesh tone colours perfectly - feats individually any artist would be proud of!
But it his artistic musings and reflections on childhood innocence that has won Keith so many followers, who see not just: their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews etc in his paintings but also a hark back to their younger selves.
In what may seem surprising Keith has had no professional art training and is a self-taught artist, having steered his own painting journey encouraged by his father, himself a commercial artist. Even as a small child Keith would illustrate and copy images from books, in particular birds, as his fascination grew for Natural History.
Spending weekends and much of his free time (secretly without his parents knowing), Keith would spend hours by the River Coquet in Felton (Northumberland) viewing the true beauty that lay within the landscape and would continually paint and sketch the vistas - from a young age appreciating the wonders that nature had to offer.
2014 saw Keith sign with Demontfort Fine art publishers, in something of a coup for the industry and he would go on to successful exhibitions and appearances in UK galleries.
