**Kealey discusses her new Spring 2020 - Collection:
A quartet of New releases for 16th May 2020, with the Kealey Farmer Spring 2020 - Collection and a focus on silver paints, multi-coloured trees ('Strength, Growth, Love & Gratitude), Robins ('Reunited'), embellished hearts and a magical ribbon! ('Wrapped Up In Love' & 'Connected')
New for the 5th of November 2019, Kealey makes her own fireworks by releasing the Britannia Collection of four limited editions and originals, celebrating British childhood heroes including the Rayleigh Chopper bike, Mr. Benn, Bagpuss and even one for adults, with a Del Boy and Rodney tribute: 'Batman And Robin.'
Kealey Farmer has painted since she was a young child and is for the most part a ‘self-taught’ artist, originally desiring to become an art teacher. However, she did to go to university and took a different early career path into project management and painted simply for pleasure in her free time.
**Short sit down interview with Kealey (2016):
As often is the case, on a friend’s suggestion, she eventually sold a couple of canvases to a local gallery and this gave her the confidence (after the birth of her second son) to take the plunge and become a professional artist in 2003. Selling & promoting her own art at local art and craft events, she was able to build up a strong following in the Milton Keynes area, before turning her attention to ways of nationally promoting herself to galleries.
It is difficult to artistically pigeon hole Kealey or to name her style; preferring to paint with acrylics, her artwork is a mix of floral & abstract, often with an iridescent ‘magical feel’ to them and perhaps her closest contemporary would be the artist Kerry Darlington.
She is also on the edge of art innovation & will often embellish her limited editions in unique ways, even overlaying paint and design onto the glass itself: two exampled being the limited edition prints: ‘Home’ and ‘Our Remembrance Tree 2018.’ Other embellishments include: resin finish (coat applied to the artwork) giving a vibrancy to the art, Swarovski Crystals & diamond dusting - a technique popularised by another one of her contemporaries, Simon Claridge.
For over 10 years now, she has concentrated on these ‘3D-elements’ on her artwork, which means her paintings (including her limited editions) are imbued with a depth and a hand-made quality that otherwise wouldn’t be the case. When viewing the art, you can really marvel at the hours that go into their brilliance!
2010 saw her collaborate with her first publisher, Buckingham Fine Art, for five years in which, by her own admission, where a huge learning curve for her and helped her adapt & evolve herself artistically.
In 2016 she signed with Wishbone Publishing, to further promote and distribute her limited edition prints and original art. Lucky for you, her fans, this has also meant an increase in her appearance schedule at UK galleries with nine planned in 2019.
I should mention, she reached a pinnacle in the UK art industry by winning the Fine Art Trade Guild’s: 'Best Selling Published Artist' award in 2017, for which we are incredibly proud of Kealey, finally gaining recognition from the industry she loves.
