Jessie Foakes hails from Essex in the UK in her own words is ‘not a typical Essex girl.’ Those who have seen the British TV series ‘Birds Of A feather’ or ‘The Only Way Is Essex' (TOWIE), know they are often caricatured by the luxury lifestyle: lots of makeup, parties and beach holidays!
Definitely a free spirit and bohemian in nature, Jessie has the wanderlust for travelling both oversea and in the UK, living in a Camper Van & travelling for a year into 2020. She has always had a passion for painting ever since she can remember and enjoys it as one her favourite pastimes, often recording herself painting overseas on pavements or everyday objects!
We can commission Jessie and have a range of other originals, do get in touch to view.
Like many artists of today inspired by tattoo art & designs, such as JJ Adams (himself formally a tattoo artist), The Mad Artist and Vincent Kamp, Jessie trained to become a successful tattoo artist. But with encouragement from friends & customers went back to the paint brush in 2021 and her artwork has been in high demand ever since!
She has sold scores of her originals through a national art publisher since 2021, and released seven highly sort after limited edition in the 'Jessie Foakes - Limited Edition Series,' beautiful hand finished and faithful recreations of her original art.
Jessie loves to use bold colour palettes (often with primary colours) to grab your attention and has a signature style that is modern impressionist & very loose; you really need to step back and view her work from a distance to appreciate her artistic vision!
As well as painting everyday objects, like Ketchup bottles, Nutella jars and Pop Art classics such as Campbell tomato soups, she has found a niche capturing famous cartoon characters including Disney and Warner Brothers - her limited editions of Mickey and Minnie Mouse have been hugely popular and really put her on the map!
She sees herself as an evolving artist and will try new colourways and techniques while capturing her subjects or characters but always with a sense of impact and fun.
Jessie describes her painting style:
‘I am used to working in a kind of here and there style and I guess that’s how I paint. I love working with something super obvious and changing it into how I see it…a change here and there see how we go.
I use anything to paint with, rulers seem to be a go to at the moment but just anything I can get my hands onto really, snapped bits of wood, palette knifes, pens, spray paint.’
